A move that's planned. A quote that's clear.
Moving services
Muuttokumppani plans and carries out moves: we go through what needs moving, put the quote in writing, and do the work we agreed on.
Services
Cities
Helsinki
In the older buildings of the inner city you run into narrow stairwells, low door frames and, often enough, no lift at all. A reserved parking space on the street is worth applying for well before moving day, because space at the roadside does not simply appear in Kallio or Punavuori.
Espoo
Moves in Espoo lean towards detached and terraced houses, where the carry from the van to the door can be long and the driveway narrow. In the centres (Tapiola, Leppävaara, Matinkylä) you are back among apartment blocks, inner courtyards and service-access routes.
Vantaa
In Vantaa, apartment districts such as Tikkurila and Myyrmäki alternate with low-rise housing, so how the day runs depends entirely on the address. Driving into a courtyard usually needs the housing company's service-driving permit, or someone on hand to open the barrier.
Frequently asked questions
Read more- What affects the price of a move?
- The volume of things, the distance, the access at both ends (floor, lift and how far things have to be carried), the timing, and which stages you include. Packing, dismantling and reassembling furniture, storage and move-out cleaning are each a separate part of the job. The exact price is calculated once those details are known, and it is written into the quote.
- How do I get a quote?
- Fill in the quote request form or get in touch, and give the origin and destination addresses, the floors and whether there is a lift, the size of your home and the date you have in mind. Say as well whether you want transport only or the full move including packing. For large or awkward jobs the details can be checked with photos or a visit before the quote is written. You get the quote in writing, with the scope and the terms itemised.
- What actually happens on moving day?
- The day starts at the agreed time at the old address, with a short walk-through of what is going and what is staying. Your things are wrapped, carried out, and the load is strapped down before the van leaves. At the new address you say which room each box and each piece of furniture belongs in, and furniture is reassembled to the extent agreed. At the end both spaces are checked together so that nothing is left behind in the van.
- How should I prepare for the move?
- Agree lift use and parking with the housing company (taloyhtiö) in advance, and apply for a reserved street space if the van cannot get close to the door. Pack your boxes and label them by room, empty and defrost the fridge and freezer, and take apart the furniture you agreed to handle yourself. File your change-of-address notification (muuttoilmoitus) too. One submission reaches both the Digital and Population Data Services Agency and Posti, though having old post forwarded is a separate service you order yourself. Keep your passport and residence permit, medicines, keys, chargers and valuables in a bag you carry personally, and tell us beforehand about anything unusually heavy, valuable or difficult to move.
