Moving an office or business premises
In a business move the hard part is rarely the volume; it is how long work has to stop. That is why the move is planned space by space and the stages are timed together with you. Workstations are labelled so that everyone finds their own things straight away in the new office.
What an office move covers
- Labelling and numbering workstations at both the old and the new address
- Packing and unpacking monitors, docks and cables, workstation by workstation
- Moving archives, cabinets and lockable furniture, either full or emptied first
- Dismantling office furniture and reassembling it in the new space
- Protecting corridors, doorways and floors for the duration of the move
- Separating furniture that is being disposed of and moving it to the agreed point
How an office move runs
- 1Site visit: we look round both addresses and go through volume, lifts, loading bays and access permits.
- 2Move plan: we agree the labelling system, the order of the stages and a time that disrupts the working week least.
- 3Execution: the move runs in the agreed order and every workstation is unpacked to its label in the new space.
- 4Handover: we go through both premises together and agree anything that is left to finish.
Good to know
In Finnish commercial buildings the lift, the loading bay and permission to drive into the yard normally have to be booked in advance through the property manager (isännöitsijä), and access cards or keys for the crew are worth arranging before the day. Agree separately who shuts down and restarts the equipment and who handles the network and phone connections, because that work usually sits with your own IT partner rather than the moving crew. Confidential material and archives are handled the way you specify, so say beforehand if something must not travel in an ordinary load. Agree the labelling system with your staff too. Otherwise the boxes reach the right room and the wrong desk.
